Tech Firm of the Year: Fujitsu Luxembourg HITS the Target

Fujitsu I 10:30 am, 17th April

Last November at TNT Symposium, Fujitsu Technology Solutions was awarded the Luxembourg Tech Firm of the Year prize. This prize rewards a tech company having put in place concrete initiatives around 4 values - Human, Inspiration, Technology, and Sustainability - summarized by the acronym HITS. We asked Marc Payal, Managing Director at Fujitsu Luxembourg, how the company had given form and substance to these initiatives.

An Inclusion Approach

"Today, Fujitsu Luxembourg employs 230 experts from 32 different nationalities. This is a great example of how the diversity approach of the group was adopted at local level. For several years, most internal meetings have been held in English as it has become a common language spoken by all", says Marc Payal. "Promoting an inclusive and equitable culture every day makes a positive difference, increases motivation, and enables innovation whatever peoples’ gender, ethnicity, disability, or orientation.

‘Be Completely You’, for example, is  an inclusion approach created by Fujitsu that enables people to succeed in their professional career while remaining true to themselves. For its part, Fujitsu Luxembourg created an Employee App for the local team. It is designed to share the ‘Life at Fujitsu’ among local workforce, whether they are located at the Fujitsu office, staying with our customers around Luxembourg or using teleworking possibilities".

"In the same way as people are different, so are their ambitions and aspirations", he adds. This is why ‘Fujitsu Boost’ was created. This program is designed to support individual career plans, taking into account everyone's demands and pace of evolution, for both their technical and soft skills. Today, more than 20 000 trainings are available online, completed by educational sessions led by local trained personnel".

Digital Co-Creation

"Today, digital technologies move into the center of everything that people do, changing the way they live, work and even innovate", notes Marc Payal. This is the reason why Fujitsu Luxembourg created an inspiration service called ‘Experience Studio’. It is intended to help customers design their digital future. We also developed a Digital Business Transformation Methodology to bring our customers the best expertise on their digitalization projects, delivering an end-to-end journey from the ideation to the selection and implementation of technological solutions. Digital co-creation means blending our customers' business expertise with digital technology from Fujitsu, thus creating new solutions by bringing value together".

"Based on the experience acquired over the past years through more than 150 digital projects, we consider that finding the right balance between three aspects is crucial", he points out. "These three facets are:

- Business objective Viability,

- User needs Desirability, and

- Innovative Technologies Feasibility.

They may be taken into account to create experiences that will have a real impact on customers and their businesses. At Fujitsu, we use workshops to ignite imagination and help consider and develop a prioritized innovation roadmap".

Technologies that Create Trust

"Fujitsu sees technologies and innovation as a way to bridge the gap between the digital and the physical layers, where the needs and expectations of customers and employees are met. Therefore, Fujitsu is developing technologies that create trust and enable customers to realize the full potential of digital transformation", Marc Payal explains.

"Innovation requires a range of activities", he says, "some of which will take place in our R&D labs, some within our various business units and others with the local collaborations of our customers. Fujitsu is committed to following five technologies and working with partners, universities, and research institutes around the world to design them:

- Quantum and high-performance computing,

- Network technologies such as 6G and optical networks,

- Artificial Intelligence,

- Data & security with topics like multi-biometrics authentication and decentralized ID, and

- Converging technologies including, for instance, social digital twins or real-time dynamic infrastructures".

New Sustainable Business Solutions

"The key to sustainability relies on using digital technologies to create new business solutions that are financially sound and, at the same time, friendly to the environment and supportive of society. Did you know that out of the 169 targets of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, 103 of them are directly influenced by ICT technologies?" asks Marc Payal. "To help customers develop sustainable businesses, Fujitsu has launched Uvance, a global business brand delivering a transformation portfolio for a sustainable world".

"Tex.tracer is just one example of sustainable business. Tex.tracer partnered with Fujitsu to build a new supply chain transparency platform using blockchain technology. It gives retailers insight into their entire supply chains and provides consumers with the option to scan QR codes in-store to check the clothing’s journey. Supply chain visibility helps businesses and consumers understand the full environmental impact and ensure high human rights standards".
